Katsugen Undo
regenerative movement
Katsugen Undo translates from Japanese as “movement from within” or “life renewing itself”.

It is a profound practice ingrained in the body's natural intelligence and its innate sense of harmony.
Rooted in ancient Japanese Shinto shamanic practices, Katsugen Undo involves consciously surrender to the inner movement as a means of cleansing and purification.

This is a solo practice, although it can be done in groups. It is a profound way to work on yourself in the comfort of your home. All you need is a private room with a mattress or a soft carpet on the floor, where you feel safe and comfortable.

Katsugen Undo is accessible to everyone, requiring no special equipment or prior experience, but only a will to accept change.
In fact, there is nothing more natural then Katsugen, and the process of learning is actually a process of letting-it-happen.
Through specific exercises that stimulate the nervous system, the natural movement of life force is awakened. As we learn to surrender to it, we allow body, mind and spirit to process the unprocessed in order to restore balance organically.
Rather than relying on external influences, Katsugen Undo encourages self-regulation through surrender, similarly to how we yawn or sneeze.

The spontaneous movement may show up in different forms. It may happen as a sudden big or small shake that travels around the body, it may be more of an internal process of emotional release, it may bring your mind into the twilight between sleep and wakefulness, it may be all of the above, and, in the beginning, it may also be hard to catch.
Reconnecting and working with your body's innate wisdom, on a long term, enhances mental clarity, physical relaxation, and emotional release. The practice, taken over time, sharpens your awareness and your sensitivity to what is in harmony, both in your body and in your life. Experiencing your body’s intelligence is also extremely empowering and reinforces your sense of self and self-efficacy.

Katsugen Undo and Seiki Soho complement each other beautifully, being part of the same teaching. I often encourage my clients to learn and practice Katsugen. While it’s not a substitute for therapy or treatment—since it can’t match the power of the mirroring that another human being offers—it is a great self-help practice that involves the evolution of your soul, often including the healing of your body-mind as a pleasant side effect.

Due to the delicate nature of the practice—its depth and the significant release it can evoke—I strongly recommend to learn it with a teacher/therapist to fully experience and appreciate its potential.
